The one thing that really upsets me about digital game distribution is that stock is no longer a factor. This is a catch-22, as no stock means everyone will always be able to access their favorite games. However, it also means that games that would in normal shops drop to 10 or below (read: my price range) stay at full price or, in general, don't drop below half price, even after several years.
Of course, that's just the tip of the iceberg.
- once bought, you'd better hope that specific distributor stays afloat
- area-specific pricing that makes games way more expensive than they are for people in the US (I'm looking at you, Steam)
- no instruction booklets that can be read leisurely
- no physical product to add to your shelf (actually a big deal for me)
- etc, etc, etc...
Meh.
